Neil Lennon has praised Manchester City midfielder Matheus Nunes after his impressive performance against Burnley.
Nunes had a standout game, with another outstanding goal from Julian Alvarez and a stunner from Rodri.
Ameen Al-Dakhil’s late goal for Vincent Kompany’s side did little to change the outcome, but it was Nunes who caught the attention of Lennon and plenty of others.
After the match, Robbie Savage noted that Nunes’ ability to make runs beyond defences is similar to Ilkay Gundogan’s style.
The 25-year-old was especially impressive with his clever runs and quick thinking. His speed and agility allowed him to turn out of pressure repeatedly and make intelligent runs beyond the opposition’s defense, especially on the left-hand side.
Nunes tested James Trafford with a dangerous attempt early in the game, cutting inside from the left wing.
Neil Lennon, who was full of praise for Nunes, described his performance as “spectacular.” He also mentioned that he enjoyed watching the rest of the team come together.
“They were a joy to watch. I really enjoyed the boys coming into the team. I thought [Matheus] Nunes was spectacular for long periods of the game”, he said on Manchester City’s official full-time show (via YouTube).
Nunes’ unstoppable play was highlighted, with his powerful running allowing him to escape pressure and advance City up the pitch.
He showcased his exceptional dribbling skills and defensive abilities as well. As a result, Nunes was a force to be reckoned with on the field, with and without the ball.
In conclusion, Matheus Nunes’ exceptional performance was key to Manchester City’s victory over Burnley. With his standout game being praised by the likes of Neil Lennon and Robbie Savage, it’s clear that Nunes is establishing himself as an important player for City.
