Plenty of Manchester City fans have been left reacting to a revelation that has emerged from Sergio Aguero confirming the completion date for his statue which is set to be placed outside of the Etihad Stadium.

The striker spent a decade at City before joining Barcelona this summer. A decade which saw him win five Premier League titles, six League Cups and an FA Cup, scoring 260 goals in 390 appearances.

Aguero scored 260 goals for City between 2011-2021. Possibly his most famous came at the end of that debut season, when he slammed in a dramatic late winner against QPR to seal City’s first top-flight title in 44 years.

The City Legend confirmed his premature retirement in late 2021, after complications and concerns over the fitness of his heart while playing for La Liga giants FC Barcelona.

Following Aguero’s emotional retirement announcement, the club confirmed that Agüero’s statue outside the Etihad Stadium will be unveiled in 2022, standing alongside those of Vincent Kompany and David Silva.

Speaking during a new conversation with Argentine media outlet TyC Sports on Monday evening as relayed by City Xtra, the 33 year-old Argentine football icon confirmed that his statue would be ready by May, 2022.

May of this year will mark the 10-year anniversary of Sergio Aguero’s iconic 93rd minute winner against Queens Park Rangers, to win Manchester City the Premier League title in 2012.

The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.
