Former professional footballer and current BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton has made his prediction for Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League match against Bournemouth.
The Citizens secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Brentford on Tuesday, thanks to a goal from Erling Haaland at the Etihad Stadium. Looking ahead to their next game, Sutton shared his insight into how the match could unfold.
In his latest column for BBC Sport, Sutton expressed his belief that Manchester City would emerge victorious against Bournemouth, despite anticipating a tough battle.
He noted that City’s previous win over Brentford was not pretty but effective, and that he expects a similar scenario against Bournemouth, with Pep Guardiola’s side ultimately finding a way to secure the win.
Acknowledging that Bournemouth have been struggling to secure a victory, Sutton predicted that the Cherries might score against City but ultimately fail to claim any points.
He said: “Manchester City were a bit ugly in their win over Brentford on Tuesday night, but they got the job done in the end. I can see something similar happening here, with City having to fight for it but finding a way to win.
“Bournemouth have not won since Boxing Day, but they were unlucky not to beat Newcastle last week and they don’t appear to be in any relegation danger. I can see them scoring against City, but they won’t have anything else to celebrate.”
Sutton’s prediction comes as a response to Bournemouth’s recent form, which has seen them draw three and lose three of their previous six matches.
On the other hand, Manchester City has had a successful run in the Premier League, with a comprehensive 6-1 victory over Bournemouth in their previous encounter.
However, their upcoming match against Bournemouth is expected to be a challenging one, considering their opponent’s struggles in recent games.
While Sutton’s prediction seems to tilt in favor of Manchester City, it is evident that their encounter with Bournemouth is likely to be a hard-fought battle, as the Cherries have shown resilience despite their recent winless streak.
Nevertheless, with Sutton’s expertise and insight, football fans will be eagerly looking forward to the outcome of this exciting Premier League match.
