Despite playing with the likes of Iniesta, Santi Cazorla, and Thiago Alcantara for Spain, Rodri believes that De Bruyne’s striking of the ball, passing, and crossing give him the edge over Iniesta in terms of technique. While Iniesta’s first touch, ability to receive the ball in tight spaces, and dribbling were superior, Rodri ultimately selected De Bruyne as having better technique, showcasing the tough choice between the two midfield maestros.
Rodri’s ultimate midfielder selection included elements from various top players, including Sergio Busquets’ football IQ, Xabi Alonso’s creativity, Casemiro’s work rate, Steven Gerrard’s mentality, and Iniesta’s skills. When specifically asked to choose a legendary midfielder for technique, Rodri opted for De Bruyne over Iniesta. While both midfielders possess incredible technique, Rodri’s preference for De Bruyne’s striking ability and passing highlights the different strengths these two midfielders bring to the game.
