Kevin De Bruyne believes Erling Haaland will become an even better striker following his blistering start to the campaign.
The Manchester City forward, 22, has scored 12 goals in his first eight games for the Premier League champions after completing a £51million summer move from Borussia Dortmund. Two of those strikes came in the 4-0 win away at Sevilla on Tuesday night.
Despite his age, Haaland is already one of the deadliest strikers in Europe. The Norway international has scored 25 goals in just 20 Champions League appearances and was prolific during his time in the Bundesliga, finding the net 62 times in 67 games.
Kevin De Bruyne reckons there’s even more to come from Manchester City sensation Erling Haaland as the Belgian dished out a menacing warning to their Champions League rivals.
Speaking to BT Sport during a post-match interview, City teammate De Bruyne said: ” I try and do my job and make the right movements and try to create as many chances as I can. I know Erling is going to be there.
“For the moment, he’s scoring the goals and obviously it helps us win games and it’s a pretty good thing for him, it’s the perfect start. I think the way he adapted to us is really good.”
Worryingly for Manchester City’s rivals, though, De Bruyne thinks there is a lot more to come from Haaland.
“Outside the goalscoring, there is another part of the game — and that part of it is more tough to adapt to — but it makes it more exciting because we know if he can adjust to the way we play, the level is going to go up and that’s what we demand from him. But, at the moment, he’s scoring that much you can get away with it a little bit more,” he added.
These De Bruyne’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
“We are happy with Erling Haaland goals but there is another aspect of the game he needs to improve… getting more involved in the game just like KDB is saying.”

“Rodri and now KDB, they’re really pushing Haaland to run around and crazy press like Alvarez/Jesus.”

“They want Haaland to press like Jesus did at City …we don’t want him to change his game.”

“Nothing wrong with that…he has to adapt to our style of play. And Pep will ensure he does…then he’ll be twice the player he is now”

“💯 if he can just improve on his link up play,he would be one of the best in the game ..
I hope pep extend his contract so we he tutor him well.”

“If Haaland drops deap and presses he will loose energy to make them runs!! Do not make him do that!.”

“Oh god, please we don’t need him pressing like Jesus. Then he will forget how to be in the box. Who will score goals if that happens? Let Haaland play however he wants to. We don’t want him pressing”
