Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that Eric Garcia wants to leave and return to Barcelona.
Barcelona are looking to former La Masia prodigy as a long-term replacement for Gerard Piqué having sold the youngster to Manchester City in 2017.
According to Sport, The La Masia graduate Eric Garcia has made his mind up that he wants to return to Barcelona, and the Spanish giants will try to negotiate a deal to sign him after the Champions League is concluded.
The report adds that Garcia is grateful for everything City and Pep Guardiola have done for him, but that he wants to return to the club which helped develop him as a youngster and play out his career there.
It remains to be seen if that actually goes through. García is under contract at the Etihad until 2022 and City are working on a contract renewal for the 19-year-old La Masía graduate.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Chief and Man City Xtra, Manchester City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
I mean, with Ake, maybe Koulibaly and maybe a leftback this is the right choice for him I think…— Nigel (@Nigel45822408) August 1, 2020
It’s painful but we can’t force him. Let him remember Diaz also left for Madrid and the rest is History!— Sergio Major (@sergiomajor10) August 1, 2020
would hate to see him go. such great talent.— Djamel Eddine 🇩🇿 (@djamel360) August 1, 2020
Same happened with Pique, they offered him first team football— Wantali 🔰 (@Wantali_Mac) August 1, 2020
Gutted if true.— City Fan (@ManCity_FanView) August 1, 2020
I will be gutted if he truly leaves but I’ll be more gutted if Tosin leaves us.— Said (@Seid_10) August 1, 2020
“Painful! Young players (Sancho, Diaz, Garcia even Foden etc..) wait too long for football in the first team & when first Team, rotation. No wonder we lose them for peanuts”, claimed one fan.
while another asked, “Garcia has been one of our top two centre backs since restart and has played loads. Not really sure what else you expect for a 19year CB?”
while another tweeted, “He is short and lacks pace, two horrible qualities for a CB! I think they can actually maximize value for him now bc his best attribute is he is young and has played a lot of minutes for Man City. I would much rather have a 21 yo Upamecano or Konaté from RB Leipzig!!
“
Another tweet said: “Rumoured all season so it was always on the cards, suspect Pep started him after lockdown to boost his transfer value, happy with Ake, need one other CB assuming Stones & Otamendi leave plus Adarabioyo back from loan for the bench.”
