Manchester City have a history of loaning out players, but one player who won’t be able to play for the rest of the season is Rodri, who sustained an ACL injury. Despite this blow, City have no plans to recall Kalvin Phillips from his loan at Ipswich Town to replace Rodri. In fact, City are reportedly looking to sell Phillips permanently once his loan ends next summer. Phillips has made three appearances for Ipswich so far this season, impressing with his performance in a 0-0 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.
City’s decision not to bring Phillips back early and their plans to sell him suggest that they do not believe he can effectively replace Rodri or meet their standards in the long run. This approach indicates that City are looking for alternative solutions to cope with Rodri’s absence and are not relying on Phillips as a potential replacement in their squad.
