Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club officials are ‘confident’ Pep Guardiola will renew his contract beyond 2023.

Few coaches in world football are in higher demand than Pep Guardiola, who has unveiled what he hopes to do after leaving the Premier League club.

After replacing Manuel Pellegrini at the helm, Guardiola has been pivotal to City’s success in recent seasons, with several players lauding the 51-year-old for his tactical acumen and knowledge of the game.

Since his appointment in 2016, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has extended his stay with the reigning Premier League Champions on two occasions, firstly in 2018 and again in 2020.

The Spaniard is contracted at the Etihad Stadium until 2023 and could extend that, but expects to work elsewhere at some point in the future. Several journalist and sports publications are already beginning to speculate what the future could hold for both the Catalan coach.

According to Journalist Guillem Balague speaking during an appearance on Spanish sports radio station El Partidazo de COPE this week, Man City are ‘confident’ Pep Guardiola will renew his contract beyond 2023.

“Manchester City are confident that he (Pep Guardiola) will renew. He has a contract until 2023 and they (Manchester City) think he could continue (at the club) for one or two more seasons,” Guillem Balague explained.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
