Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Maximo Perrone could leave on loan for the 2023/24 season.
The Argentina U20s star arrived from Velez Sarsfield towards the end of the January transfer window, but featured in just 20 minutes of senior football for his new club.
The Premier League champions signed Perrone for just under £8m in January, but it is unclear what the long-term plan for the midfielder is.
Guardiola praised Perrone’s qualities shortly after he arrived at the Etihad Stadium, but a loan spell has always looked likely.
According to journalist Bruno Gonzalez Garcia, the Argentine midfielder has ‘many chances’ to join City Football Group side Girona this summer.
As per the Journalist, the idea is for the midfielder to be part of Manchester City’s pre-season, before leaving for the La Liga club.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@PRETTYMAMl_: “Please keep him around”
@jadzein12: “Would have loved to see him play more tbh”
@Achillaes: “If he goes to Girona he will never return to our first team as a starter. He shouldn’t do it.”
@sleepypacman: “Only to be never seen again…nobody ever returns from Girona”
@JPJoker01: “Hopefully he impresses in pre-season so Pep asks to keep him around.”
@saintblueigor: “He’s a baller hope he stays”
@AliG4803: “This is a great idea. City fans need to quit this notion that once someone goes out on loan they’re finished, Girona is using for Europe next season and Perrone can challenge for a starting spot there. If he’s successful there will be a place for him here.”
@callmearchers: “Think people are taking this the wrong way. A loan move will be good for Perrone to get some minutes under the belt before returning to us, ready to play a bigger role in that season, given the potential loss of Bernardo Silva and, God forbid, Kevin de Bruyne at some point”
