Roberto Alvarado, Chivas winger, spoke about his dream of playing for Manchester City being cut short despite training with the club’s top talents earlier in his career. Officially having played only in Mexico, Alvarado started out with Celaya before moving to several other clubs before landing at Chivas in January 2022. Since then, he has become a regular player for the club, making 143 appearances and contributing significantly in terms of goals and assists.
Alvarado’s career could have taken a different route as he tried his luck in Europe early on, playing for Manchester City’s youth teams and training with promising talents like Phil Foden and Jadon Sancho. However, due to missing required documents, Alvarado had to return to Mexico, ending his dream of playing for Manchester City. Despite this setback, Alvarado has established himself at Chivas and is now a regular for the Mexican national team, being described as one of the best players at his club.
Reflecting on his experience at Manchester City, Alvarado expressed disappointment at being unable to fulfill his dream due to paperwork issues. He mentioned how he trained alongside future stars like Foden and Sancho, highlighting how close he was to potentially making it at a top European club. Despite the setback, Alvarado has continued to progress in his career in Mexico and internationally, proving himself as a talented player for both Chivas and the Mexican national team.
