Manchester City’s young talent Phil Foden has his sights set on joining the ranks of football legends like Lionel Messi and Dani Alves in terms of winning trophies.
The Stockport-born midfielder has been a key part of Manchester City’s success in recent years, helping the club secure multiple trophies including the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League.
Foden has been thriving in an attacking midfield role, which many believe is his natural position after progressing through the club’s academy system. However, due to Kevin De Bruyne’s return from injury, Foden has been shifted into a wide role on the right of a front three.
Despite the change in position, Foden’s future success in terms of silverware seems guaranteed, and he remains driven to achieve even more in his career.
In an interview with ManCity.com, Foden expressed his disbelief at how much he has already achieved and his ambition to become one of the greatest players of all time in terms of trophies.
“Sometimes I feel it’s all going really quickly because I’ve already achieved so much in my career, and it’s crazy to think how many trophies I’ve already won with City,” Foden admitted to the Club’s official website.
He continued, “To have won so many at the age of 23 is unreal, but I want to keep going on and keep winning trophies with City – why not?
“I’d like to end my career by being one of the most decorated players ever because I’ve got so many more years ahead of me.”
At 23 years old, Foden has already won 16 honours with Manchester City, and he is eager to continue adding to his collection in the years to come.
He aspires to become one of the most decorated players in the history of the sport, a feat that would put him in the same league as legends like Messi and Alves, who have each amassed over 44 honours in their careers.
While the road to becoming one of football’s most decorated players is challenging, Foden’s determination and talent have already set him on a path to success. Since breaking into Manchester City’s senior squad in the 2017/18 season, he has proven himself as a crucial asset to the team.
As Foden continues to evolve and thrive in his career, his ambition to reach the same heights as football icons serves as motivation for him to keep pushing towards further success.
With Pep Guardiola’s guidance and a strong support system, Foden has the potential to leave a lasting legacy in the football world.
