Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola is eyeing a summer swoop for Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister this summer.
Mac Allister joined Brighton for around £7m in 2019 from Argentinos Juniors and is contracted to the Seagulls until June 2025 and the club have an option for a further year.
The Argentina World Cup winner has been excellent for Albion during the past two seasons and his profile sky-rocketed further as he helped Argentina win the World Cup in Qatar.
He played a crucial role as his side triumphed in the World Cup in Qatar, and his performances at the tournament have attracted interest from several clubs.
According to Harry Pratt of the Daily Star, Pep Guardiola has identified Brighton and Hove Albion’s Alexis Mac Allister as the perfect addition to his existing midfield options this summer.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are all expected to spark a bidding war for the Argentina international, who starred for his country on their World Cup winning run in Qatar last year.
Brighton have reportedly set a £70 million asking price for the 24-year-old, who is under contract at the Amex Stadium until the summer of 2025, with the option of a further one-year extension.
The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.
@IsaacMCFC_: “Bring him to the Etihad Pep.”
@MCFC_Erik: “He’s the perfect Gundo replacement”
@ShaunHLM: “Yes, will be like a better Gundogan.”
@atymcfc: “Perfect Gundo replacement.”
@MCFCnish: “Please bring him.”
@MCFC_Antoine8: “Would fit in well here, I’d take him right now”
@HHarrington96: “Definitely rather him than Mount. Probably Madisson as well just because he’s so injury prone. Great engine and can reboot the press in midfield which has faded the last couple of years.”
@allmancity22: “Wonder how much Brighton would ask for. Mac Allister does certainly strike me as someone we would be highly interested in, so not too surprising.”
