Manchester City instructed Pep Guardiola to assess the club’s trialist, Amar Fatah, during their pre-season tour in the United States. Despite the absence of many familiar first-team players who were on holiday, Fatah was included in the squad and impressed Guardiola with his performance, especially his dribbling skills as a winger.

City is not expected to add any more players to their first-team squad during their time in the United States after the inclusion of Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic. The return of key players like Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku, Ruben Dias, and others before the FA Community Shield match suggests a return to normalcy for the team. Despite the absence of some star players in pre-season matches, Guardiola sees it as an opportunity to identify emerging talent within the club.

Amar Fatah, a 20-year-old winger from Troyes playing on loan at Lommel, has caught Guardiola’s eye with his promising talent. Fatah, who is a Swedish youth international, was signed by Troyes in 2022 and subsequently loaned to Lommel before featuring for City on the pre-season tour. Guardiola praised Fatah’s style of play and potential, indicating that the youngster could have a bright future ahead under his guidance.
