Manchester City are reportedly considering Ruben Amorim as the potential successor to Pep Guardiola once his contract expires in 2025. The club’s sporting director-to-be, Hugo Viana, has worked with Amorim at Sporting CP and City’s interest in the 39-year-old is growing. However, City’s priority remains to keep Guardiola beyond 2025, as they are open to offering him a rolling contract.
Ruben Amorim has impressed Guardiola, leading Sporting CP to two Primeira Liga titles. Guardiola praised Amorim after a Champions League match, highlighting his tactical acumen. Despite this, Liverpool reportedly passed on Amorim as a replacement for Jurgen Klopp due to his tactical demands and release clause. It will be interesting to see if City ultimately pursue Amorim for the 2025/2026 season.
