Manchester City have been successful in recruiting players from other Premier League teams, such as John Stones, Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish, and Mateo Kovacic. One player they signed from another top-flight team is Matheus Nunes from Wolves for £53m. Despite only being with City for one season, there is speculation that they could find an upgrade on Nunes by signing Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United.
Guimaraes has made a significant impact at Newcastle since joining in January 2022, with 17 goals and 16 assists in 107 appearances. A comparison between Guimaraes and Nunes shows that the Brazilian midfielder offers more attacking and defensive value. Guimaraes has a higher number of goals, assists, key passes, shot-creating actions, and tackles and interceptions than Nunes, indicating that he would be a smart signing for City.
The potential signing of Guimaraes could mean that Nunes may struggle to secure a prominent role in the team. With Guimaraes’ impressive performance at Newcastle and the perceived upgrade he brings compared to Nunes, it is suggested that City could benefit from signing the Brazilian midfielder for the upcoming season.
