Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is facing the risk of missing an upcoming domestic fixture due to the changes in the 2023/24 rules.
Guardiola, at 53, is aiming to lead Manchester City to a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title.
Additionally, he is also pursuing retaining both the UEFA Champions League and Emirates FA Cup after last season’s treble success.
During his time at the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola has won 16 trophies, including the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in the current campaign.
Currently, Manchester City is trailing behind Liverpool in the race for the Premier League title, with a five-point gap and facing fierce competition from Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Tottenham.
The team is set to return to Premier League action against Burnley at the Etihad Stadium, where Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland could make a comeback after missing several matches due to injuries.
The team is also nearing full fitness with players like John Stones and Manuel Akanji returning to training.
Despite the fitness boosts, Guardiola is at risk of missing an upcoming fixture due to the possibility of receiving another yellow card, as he is just one caution away from a suspension, with five yellow cards already this season.
Guardiola previously missed a game in September due to a touchline ban after receiving three cautions.
Manchester City has six domestic fixtures scheduled in February, including matches against Brentford, Everton, Chelsea, Bournemouth, and Luton.
Guardiola’s absence from the dugout could be a setback for the team as they continue to compete in multiple competitions.
