Brentford’s Neal Maupay is now feeling regret about his decision regarding Erling Haaland, although this time it is not as controversial as previous incidents.
We witnessed Maupay in the headlines for his antics on the pitch – an argument with Kyle Walker and a social media beef with Tottenham’s James Maddison.
This time, Maupay had initially ranked Haaland in first place while participating in a challenge on Brentford’s official TikTok channel.
The footballer struggled with the challenge which involved ranking players without knowing the full list, and as a result, Haaland was placed in the top spot based on Maupay’s fear of a worse player coming later.
To his disbelief, Maupay was later revealed Andres Iniesta as the final player on the list, leaving Maupay to express regret over his decision.
“Oh no!” he continued, “Iniesta! I put you first, I put you second but you’re first in my list. No hard feelings. Andres, I love you.”
Maupay’s biggest regret, however, was not ranking Haaland in first place, but rather the placement of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, whom he was forced to rank in third place and humorously requested if it was possible to place him 11th.
While Maupay may feel regret about his decision, it is understandable as both players are of great repute. Haaland, in particular, is loved by City fans for his sensational performance, having scored 78 goals in 75 games.
On the other hand, Andres Iniesta is already recognized as an all-time great, having won multiple prestigious titles and tournaments, which includes nine La Liga titles and four Champions League wins.
Despite Maupay’s regret, it can be argued that either decision is justifiable given the incredible standing of both players in the history of football.
