Manchester City have reportedly lodged an official complaint to Liverpool after alleging a fan spat at their backroom staff during the 2-2 draw at Anfield.
The Premier League champions came from behind twice, with Kevin De Bruyne’s deflected strike cancelling out Mohamed Salah’s brilliant solo effort, to rescue a point against the Reds in a pulsating draw between the two title contenders.
According to Sky Sports News, Liverpool have confirmed that they will investigate the situation following Man City’s complaint and will access CCTV footage to identify the potential culprit.
Speaking to the press after the match, City manager Pep Guardiola said he was not aware of the incident at the time but was subsequently notified and he is confident the host club will take the necessary action.
“They (the staff) told me but I didn’t see it,” he said.
“I’m pretty sure Liverpool FC will take measures against this person. I know they are greater than this behaviour.”
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
Rivalry aside, I thought we're past that.
