Former footballer Tim Sherwood praised Erling Haaland’s goal against Everton, likening it to something only Mohamed Salah could achieve.
What makes Haaland a truly special goalscorer is the different types of finishes he can execute, just like many would say about Aguero and Tevez.
Sean Dyche’s side had done a commendable job of restricting City during their meeting at the Etihad Stadium before the Norwegian scored a rasping volley to hand his side the lead before bagging a second in an important victory for his side last month.
Sherwood highlighted Haaland’s versatility in scoring different kinds of goals, similar to Aguero and Tevez.
He specifically mentioned Haaland’s rasping volley against Everton, noting how the Norwegian forward clinched victory for his side with his exceptional goal-scoring ability.
“It’s not about the easy chances. It’s not about them chances and the ones he missed. It’s about the chances that are not even chances which he scores. I think it was the Brentford game when the game was going nowhere”, he said on Sky Sports.
“It was very tight, it just needed that and the corner just falls to him on his right foot and he just volleys it past the goalkeeper.”
Tim Sherwood proceeded to correct himself, saying, “Everton game, yeah.”
“I mean, it’s just incredible how he can score that goal. No one else has got that apart from Mo [Mohamed] Salah. Mo Salah’s got it.”
Sherwood’s comparison between Haaland and Salah emphasized their shared ability to create goal-scoring chances out of seemingly impossible situations.
He praised both players for their decisive decision-making, rapid shot execution, and impeccable finishing inside the box. Ultimately, Sherwood’s observations painted a picture of Haaland as a rising star with the potential to match Salah’s world-class finishing capabilities.
