Manchester City fans praised the performance of Jeremy Doku but question his decision-making and lack of end product following the 1-1 draw with Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.
The Belgium international winger has hit the ground running at the Etihad Stadium since his move in the summer of 2023 and has established himself as an important player in Guardiola’s side.
With the entire 90 minutes under his belt against Liverpool, the winger was able to show how useful he can be for Man City from an attacking and defensive point of view.
Doku completed 11 dribbles, where he beat his defender and kept hold of the ball, the most by a player in a Premier League game since September 2021 and the most by a City player under Guardiola.
He attempted 16 dribbles in total. Only once has a player attempted more for Man City under Pep Guardiola and that was Raheem Sterling against Leeds in 2022.
This performance ultimately earned Doku an overall match rating of 8.6/10 from SofaScore, comfortably making him the highest-rated player on the day.
But it seems like the 21-year-old has been getting stick for his display against Jurgen Klopp and Co.
While some Man City fans believe that the £55.5 million (Sky Sports) man was as electric as usual, others believe his decision-making and lack of end product made his performance a frustrating watch.
Here’s how some Man City fans reacted to Jeremy Doku’s performance on social media.
@11_privv: “Top performance, should’ve tried his luck on goal more.”
@MRifqiFarisi: “Needs to improve at passing but overall he’s good ”
@Ajinaab_Imma: “Doku is doing good but needs to work on his finishing… know when to release ball and when to take on a player …. Pep needs to work on him like he did on a sterling ”

@auuumxx: “He is good but overated. For me he must learn more to shoot after dribble. & Making decisions to pass to the right person”
@fidbee: “When Pep gets him refined he’ll be better, his decision making is not always the best but with time it will come..”
@MThomas61: “Brilliant player for future but needs to shoot more when he cuts inside, can’t wait for Kev to come back missed his through balls so much today.”
@The_Observer300: “He is a great passer, teammates need to be more prepared for his balls, they seem to unprepared when the passes come.”
