Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims United ‘opted against’ signing Joao Cancelo on numerous occasions.

Manchester City bought the full-back for £60m from Juventus back in 2019 and has established himself as one of the best in the World.

During his first campaign, the Portugal international made only 13 Premier League appearances but has since gone from strength to strength, establishing himself as one of Pep Guardiola’s major creative forces.

Cancelo, who is able to operate on either defensive flank, was named in last season’s PFA Team of the Year and has now agreed a two-year contract extension at the Etihad Stadium.

He is on track to win back-to-back Premier League titles with City, where he has registered eight assists in 30 appearances across all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s men this season.

It could have turned out a lot differently if Cancelo was actually pursued by Manchester City’s cross-town rivals, Manchester United.

According to James Robson from the Standard, the Portuguese was personally recommended to Ed Woodward on repeated occasions, but Manchester United opted against making a move.

Instead, as per City Xtra, the Red Devils signed Aaron Wan Bissaka and Diogo Dalot, two signings that have failed to produce under various managers – including Jose Mourinho and Olé Gunnar Solskjær.

In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, Man City Fans as usual have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
