Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola’s side are ‘expected’ to open talks with Raheem Sterling over a new contract before the end of the season.
It has already been a turbulent season of contrasts for Raheem, who initially slid back from his Euro 2020 high back into a City malaise.
Following a personally underwhelming end to last season, Sterling started only three of City’s opening 11 Premier League games, but he has begun to look back to his old self – scoring five Premier League goals in the month of December alone.
Including that 3-0 win over the Merseysiders, Sterling has started 10 of City’s previous 12 league games, scoring six times during that period. Arguably, the games against Aston Villa and Chelsea when he did not find the net were his best performances of the season.
Sterling, who had been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, has less than 18 months remaining on his £300,000 per week contract but do not expect him to rush a decision on his future.
According to James Ducker at the Telegraph, Manchester City and Sterling are ‘relaxed’ about the situation surrounding his contract, with further talks planned at the end of the current season.
The report claims the reigning premier league champions are expected to open contract talks with the England international before the end of the season.
For now, the Former Liverpool man is keeping his head down and focusing on maintaining his form, the report adds.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.

From his past 2 year form he needs to go. All very good being sentimental but City are a top team and from 2019 Sterling isn’t a top player. Appreciate what he’s done for the club but not earned his mega wages. New blood needed, we move on 🔵
