Fresh reports from within the Etihad Stadium have shed light on Manchester City’s future plans for Savio, the forward who has been on loan with Girona in Spain.
The Premier League champions have reportedly struck an agreement with ESTAC Troyes, owned by the City Football Group, for the permanent signing of Savio.
This agreement would see City retaining full ownership of the player while bringing him closer to becoming a permanent member of Pep Guardiola’s squad.
However, Manchester City supporters hoping to see Savio in their Sky Blue shirts may have to wait.
According to reports, Savio, also known as Savinho, will be part of Manchester City’s first-team squad from July and will start the club’s pre-season campaign working under Guardiola.
It has been suggested that Savio could continue with Girona into the next season, with options being studied to make that viable.
Furthermore, it’s been revealed that City’s plan is for Savio to join pre-season, but he will return to La Liga and Girona on loan next season should the City Group side qualify for the Champions League.
In addition to Savio, Yan Couto, another Girona player sparking Manchester City’s interest, has garnered attention from the Premier League club.
Manchester City is expected to travel to the United States for their pre-season campaign this summer, following a successful trip to the far-east Asia prior to the ongoing season.
Last summer, Guardiola and his team embarked on a tour and played three fixtures in Japan and South Korea in order to build fitness for the upcoming season. This summer, Manchester City is likely to have a similar approach to their international pre-season tour.
Overall, Manchester City’s plans for Savio and other players indicate the club’s commitment to nurturing talent and integrating them into the first team under Guardiola’s guidance.
