Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo has been linked with a potential move to Saudi Arabia, among other clubs, during this summer transfer window. Cancelo had been out of favor at Manchester City for over a year before being loaned out first to Bayern Munich and then to Barcelona. However, with uncertainty surrounding Barcelona’s ability to finance a deal for Cancelo, other alternatives are being explored.
Saudi Arabian clubs, including Al Ahli and Al Ettifaq, have reportedly shown interest in signing Cancelo, as have Serie A clubs Juventus and Inter Milan. Financial constraints may hinder Barcelona’s chances of securing Cancelo permanently, despite Manchester City’s willingness to sell him for a reduced price. European clubs are hoping for a cheaper deal, while Saudi Arabian clubs seem willing to meet Manchester City’s asking price for Cancelo.
Manchester City is reportedly content with their options at right-back, with young talent Rico Lewis seen as a promising prospect and club captain Kyle Walker still a key player despite potential interest from Saudi Arabia and Bayern Munich. It is unlikely that Walker will leave the club in the near future, even if Cancelo secures a permanent move away from Manchester City.
