Manchester City, led by coach Pep Guardiola, has claimed the top spot in UEFA’s updated club coefficient rankings for the 2024/25 season. Despite being knocked out of the Champions League quarter-finals by Real Madrid the previous season, Manchester City secured their first Champions League title in June 2023 by defeating Inter with a single second-half goal from Rodrigo.

In addition to their Champions League success, Manchester City earned victories in the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup last season. The updated rankings place them above Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and other top European clubs. The rankings are based on team performances over the past four seasons.

The upcoming season will mark Manchester City’s 14th consecutive appearance in the Champions League, which will feature a new 32-team format. The draw for the league stage of the 2024/25 Champions League will be made on August 29, 2024, determining the opponents that Pep Guardiola and his players will face in their quest for further success in European competition.
