Girona, a sister-club of Manchester City, is set to sign Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek. The Dutch midfielder, who has struggled for playing time at Old Trafford, is expected to make a permanent exit from the club this summer. Girona, owned by the City Football Group, will pay an initial €500,000 for Van de Beek, with the deal potentially reaching €15 million with add-ons.
The signing of Van de Beek is part of the City Football Group’s global strategy of owning multiple clubs around the world. Girona, who finished third in La Liga last season, are set to compete in the Champions League alongside Manchester City in the upcoming season. Despite facing restrictions on transfer business, Girona is still able to secure the signing of Van de Beek ahead of the new campaign.
In addition to the Van de Beek deal, another CFG player, Savio, is expected to complete a move to Manchester City despite spending the previous season on loan with another CFG club, Troyes. The City Football Group’s network of clubs allows for a seamless transfer of players between teams, enhancing talent development and strategic operations across the globe.
