Manchester City is expected to announce their first major arrival into Pep Guardiola’s squad on Wednesday, with reports suggesting a new player will be revealed this week. The Premier League Champions have been slow in making improvements this summer, despite identifying positions that need strengthening, such as a back-up option for Rodrigo in defensive midfield. Potential options for this role include Bruno Guimaraes and Joshua Kimmich.

The new arrival is reported to be Savio, a 20-year-old player who is set to sign a five-year deal with Manchester City. Savio was also considered by Barcelona but City beat them to his signature. The player is keen to work under Pep Guardiola as he believes it will help him develop as a player and feature regularly for Brazil. It is unknown if Savio will take part in Manchester City’s pre-season schedule in the United States or if he will wait until the FA Community Shield preparations in August.

Savio, who was involved in Copa America with Brazil’s national team, remains eligible for additional holiday time this summer. Manchester City sees him as a versatile player who can operate on both wings in their front three, providing them with more options in attack. Guardiola is reportedly excited about the arrival of Savio and is looking forward to working with him.
