Manchester City have approved a season-long loan for promising left-back Tomas Galvez, who joined the club in 2021 after progressing through Watford’s Academy. Described as possessing great technical ability, Galvez played for City’s Under-18 and Elite Development Squad before making his debut for the EDS.
Galvez, who has also made appearances for Finland’s senior squad, is set to step into senior club football with a loan deal to Austrian club LASK for the 2024/25 season. The teenager may still feature for Manchester City this summer before departing on loan post the pre-season tour.
While left-back has been a problematic position for Manchester City, manager Pep Guardiola has found stability using left-sided centre-backs in the role. With the departure of Sergio Gomez, City may look to the transfer market for a new left-back, although any new recruit will likely serve as a back-up option.
