Manchester City are eager to sell Joao Cancelo this summer and have significantly lowered their asking price for potential suitors. Cancelo recently completed his 2023/24 campaign following Portugal’s exit from the European Championships and a loan spell at FC Barcelona. This was his second consecutive temporary move away from Manchester City after being initially excluded from Pep Guardiola’s plans in January 2023.

Despite City’s efforts to find a permanent buyer for Cancelo, FC Barcelona has shown interest only in a loan deal with a non-obligatory purchase option. Juventus has reportedly expressed strong interest in the player and is pushing for a deal with both Manchester City and Cancelo. City is looking to accelerate Cancelo’s departure before the start of their pre-season schedule and have offered him to several teams at a reduced fee of less than €20 million.

Manchester City will soon begin their pre-season preparations and tour of the United States, but it is uncertain if Guardiola will have any new signings at his disposal. The club is set to face prominent European teams like Barcelona and Chelsea during their US tour, with current squad members returning based on their international commitments. Despite the ongoing efforts to offload Cancelo, there are no guarantees that a deal will be reached with any interested clubs.
