Manchester City, the reigning champions of the Premier League, have received a hefty sum of £176.2 million in prize money for their success in the English top-flight last season.

This triumph in the Premier League marked the first of three trophies in a two-week period at the end of the 2022/23 campaign for Pep Guardiola’s team, and the first of five pieces of silverware across the calendar year.

In addition to their Premier League victory, Manchester City also secured an FA Cup final win over rivals Manchester United and claimed their first ever UEFA Champions League prize with a second-half goal from Rodri in Istanbul.

The team’s subsequent successes in the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in August and December, respectively, further affirmed their dominance.

According to The Telegraph’s James Ducker, Manchester City’s earnings of £176.2 million for their Premier League title win last season exceeded those of second-placed Arsenal, who received £172.2 million.

Meanwhile, Manchester United, who finished third in the division, received £168.3 million, and Southampton, who finished at the bottom of the division, earned £103.6 million.

As City are currently engaged in a closely fought Premier League title race this season, they face competition from Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Aston Villa heading into the second half of the campaign.

The team is also set to play a challenging FA Cup fifth-round tie away at Luton Town this month, as well as the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against FC Copenhagen.

Overall, Manchester City’s successful year in 2022/23 not only brought them substantial financial rewards but also solidified their status as a dominant force in English football.

With their impressive performance last season and their ongoing pursuit of more silverware, the club remains a formidable contender in domestic and international competitions.
