Manchester City are considering offering one of their first-team wonderkids, Rico Lewis or Oscar Bobb, as part of a deal to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United. City have identified Guimaraes as a solution to midfield problems, including a lack of defensive coverage for Rodrigo and creativity further forward. The Premier League champions are looking for ways to bring down Guimaraes’ £100 million asking price by including young talents in the deal.
Manchester City are hesitant to pay the full £100 million for Guimaraes, instead valuing him closer to £80 million. Despite discussions revolving around Lewis and Bobb potentially being involved in the deal, City have stressed that neither player is available for sale this summer as they are seen as integral to the club’s future. Bobb has been previously linked with a move away, but Lewis remains committed to City and believes the club is the best place for his development.
While there are rumors linking Bobb to Chelsea, Lewis is focused on staying at Manchester City and biding his time for opportunities. City’s pursuit of Guimaraes indicates their intention to strengthen the squad for the upcoming season and beyond, with the hope that the inclusion of young talents in the deal could make acquiring the Brazilian midfielder more financially feasible for the club.
