Manchester City player Phil Foden is undoubtedly one of the best players across the Europe top five league during the concluded season, therefore, the recognition by different bodies wouldn’t surprise many football lovers who have been monitoring his development.
The England international was promoted to the Man City senior team by the legendary Pep Guardiola who spotted his talent among his colleagues at City Academy.
To be fair, Phil Foden was not the only talented players brought to the senior team by Guardiola, but he is the only one patient enough to develop gradually until he becomes an indispensable member of the star-studded City team.
The Manchester City player stunned many pundits with his performances, particularly during the team difficult months when Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland were injured. His goals, assists, and determination to be the best made City a title contender, and they eventually won the title on the last day.
After the Englishman won the Premier League player of the season award and the Football Writer’s Association Player of the Year prize, he was recognised this week as one of the best players in the UEFA Champions League competition.
Phil Foden was the only Manchester City player who made the UEFA Champions League starting eleven, a line-up that Pep Guardiola’s players dominated last season. Foden’s recognition speaks much more about his performances in the competition.
He fixtured 8 times, started 7 in the competition this season. He, however, managed to have 8 goal contributions, scoring 5 goals and provided 3 assists.

Real Madrid winger, Vinícius Jr was named the player of the tournament after scoring 6 goals and providing 4 assists in 10 appearances.
