Manchester City is reportedly in talks to sign a new backup goalkeeper this summer, amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Stefan Ortega Moreno. Ortega’s impressive performances have attracted interest from other clubs, potentially leading to his departure from Manchester City for more playing time.
Rumors suggested that Manchester United was targeting Lazio goalkeeper Chrīstos Mandas, but it is now reported that Manchester City is actually interested in the 22-year-old Greek goalkeeper. The club has already made contact with Mandas’ representatives, but Lazio’s initial plan was to send him out on loan. A meeting to discuss extending Mandas’ contract until 2029 is expected in the coming weeks.
Mandas joined Lazio only recently and performed well in his limited appearances. Manchester City may need to pay a significant transfer fee if they pursue Mandas due to his rising stock and favorable contractual situation. As the club plans for a potential exit by Ortega, they are exploring options for a new backup goalkeeper for the upcoming season.
