Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has indicated that Jack Grealish may be ready to return for the Premier League opener against Chelsea, following his absence from the squad for the Community Shield match against Manchester United. Guardiola stated that they did not want to take a risk with Grealish’s fitness for the previous game, but are optimistic about his availability for the upcoming fixtures.

The nature of Grealish’s injury has not been disclosed, but it seems likely that he will be fit to play against Chelsea this weekend. Meanwhile, Rodri’s fitness remains uncertain after he went off at half-time during the Euro 2020 final. Guardiola has confirmed that Rodri will return to training this week, along with other players who were involved in international tournaments.

While it is expected that Rodri and other players who have been training less due to international duties will not start against Chelsea, they may feature in the following fixture against Ipswich Town. The return dates for Grealish and Rodri are estimated to be Sunday 18th August and Saturday 24th August, respectively.
