The Etihad Stadium pitch has been revamped for the upcoming 2024/25 season, with Manchester City’s groundsman showcasing the completed work. While Pep Guardiola and his players are on their pre-season tour in the US, preparations are ongoing for the team’s return to domestic action and various competitions. Additionally, construction work is ongoing at the stadium for an expansion project that will increase capacity to over 60,000 by the 2025/26 season.
As City continues their pre-season tour, preparations are being made for their first competitive game against Manchester United in the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium. The team will open their Premier League campaign with a match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, before returning home to play on the newly refreshed Etihad Stadium pitch. The first home game will see City face off against Ipswich Town in August.
Photos of the new-look Etihad Stadium surface have been shared on social media by Manchester City’s Head of Grounds and Landscapes, John Ledwidge. The stadium team is commended for their work in preparing the pitch, with the longer grow-in period being highlighted as a success. The team is gearing up for an exciting season ahead with renovations and preparations in full swing.
