Manchester City is among several Premier League clubs contemplating a summer move for Lille defender Leny Yoro.
Pep Guardiola is expected to bolster the Manchester City squad next summer, potentially adding players in all positions, including the goalkeeping department, depending on possible outgoings.
Bernardo Silva, Stefan Ortega, and Sergio Gomez have been linked with potential exits, with the club also looking to target a new midfielder and winger for the 2024/25 campaign.
Despite purchasing Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig for an estimated £77.6 million last summer, Manchester City could return to the market for a new defender.
Gvardiol, a 22-year-old Croatian defender, has primarily played at left-back for Guardiola’s side, while Ruben Dias, John Stones, Manuel Akanji, and Nathan Ake offer experience at center-back.
However, the club is reportedly considering signing another center-back next summer, with City being one of three Premier League clubs looking at teenager Leny Yoro.
According to a report by Le10Sport, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool are all contenders to sign the 18-year-old from Lille in the summer.
Yoro has made 20 Ligue 1 appearances this season and had previously been a target for Paris Saint-Germain. Despite Lille’s €70 million price tag, Premier League sides are still pursuing the young Frenchman, and Lille is expecting bids from high-profile European clubs this summer.
Manchester City has previously completed deals from the French top-flight, with both Jeremy Doku and Bernardo Silva moving to the Etihad Stadium from Ligue 1.
Doku signed for £55.5 million last summer from Stade Rennais on a five-year deal. Guardiola’s side is considering a move for Yoro to strengthen their defensive options for the upcoming season.
