Manchester City and Aston Villa have both decided not to pursue a deal for Joao Felix, who is currently on loan at Barcelona from Atletico Madrid. The 24-year-old Portugese forward has also spent time at Chelsea, scoring four goals in 16 Premier League appearances. Despite being linked with a move to Manchester City, Felix is not expected to join the club as he is set to leave Atletico Madrid this summer.

Felix, who has made over 280 career appearances, is rumored to be considering options in both the Premier League and Liga Portugal. Manchester City’s decision not to pursue the forward could impact Atletico Madrid’s interest in Julian Alvarez, as the La Liga club was considering a cash-plus-player swap deal. Benfica may now have the opportunity to sign Felix on either a temporary or permanent basis.

Atletico Madrid’s pursuit of Alvarez, who is also being sought after by Paris Saint-Germain, may be hindered by Manchester City’s decision regarding Felix. With Etihad executives reportedly unwilling to pursue a deal for the Portugese international, the door may now be open for other clubs to make a move for the versatile forward. Felix, who featured in the European Championship this summer, is expected to leave Atletico Madrid ahead of the new season.
