Manchester City have reportedly agreed to sell Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid for €95m. With only one new signing, Savinho, at the Etihad Stadium this transfer window, Pep Guardiola may use Kevin De Bruyne as a striker if a replacement for Alvarez is not brought in. Guardiola will assess the squad after a few games to determine if a new player is needed, with De Bruyne potentially playing as a false No 9 in the absence of a traditional striker.
De Bruyne has been a key player for City since his arrival in 2015, scoring 102 goals and providing 170 assists in 382 appearances. While primarily a midfielder, De Bruyne has shown his versatility by playing as a striker in certain games, scoring eight goals in 13 appearances in that position. Guardiola may turn to the Belgian to fill the striker role if needed this season, showcasing De Bruyne’s effectiveness and adaptability in different positions on the field.
