Manchester City have entered the race to sign PSG and Uruguay midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who joined PSG last year in a €60 million move from Sporting Lisbon. Despite interest from Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham, the 23-year-old signed a contract with PSG until 2028. Ugarte made 37 appearances for PSG during the 2023/24 season, helping Uruguay reach the Copa America semi-finals.

Manchester United is currently leading the race to sign Ugarte, with Old Trafford seen as an ideal destination for the defensive midfielder. However, Manchester City is also interested in the player, as they aim to address concerns over the lack of cover for Rodri, who faced issues with burnout and fatigue during the recent season. Reports suggest that City has made concrete moves to try and sign Ugarte from PSG.

Besides Manchester United and Manchester City, Barcelona is also interested in signing Ugarte. The midfielder’s future at PSG is expected to be addressed after the conclusion of the Copa America tournament, where Uruguay is set to face Columbia in the semi-finals. Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez is also in the last four of the competition with Argentina, who will face Canada in the other semi-final.
