Manchester City are reportedly interested in Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi as a potential replacement for Julian Alvarez. The Sky Blues had shown interest in signing Furuhashi during the summer transfer window, but a move did not materialize. The Japanese international has been a prolific scorer for Celtic, with 54 goals in 99 Scottish Premiership appearances since joining in 2021.

At 29 years old, Furuhashi is seen as a player in his prime and could offer City additional attacking options. However, Pep Guardiola is not overly desperate to strengthen his attacking lineup, given the talent already available in his squad. If City do pursue a move for Furuhashi, he may only be a rotation option and not a guaranteed starter, especially with players like Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, and Erling Haaland already in the team.

While Furuhashi may not be a guaranteed starter at Manchester City, his versatility as an attacking player could still be a valuable addition to the squad. With his ability to create chances and score goals, he could provide depth and cover for City’s star players. It remains to be seen whether City will make a move for Furuhashi in the January transfer window or explore other options to strengthen their squad.
