Manchester City has agreed to send Callum Doyle on loan to Norwich City for the upcoming season, marking his fourth successive loan spell away from the Etihad Stadium. Despite sustaining an injury last season, Doyle impressed with Leicester City and Coventry City in previous loan spells. His impact in helping teams achieve promotions started with Sunderland in the 2021/22 season.
Norwich City is hoping Doyle will have a similar impact on their team, with Manchester City retaining high hopes for the young defender. While the deal has not been formally signed, all parties seem satisfied with him spending the next season at Carrow Road. There are financial benefits for Manchester City in the deal, despite Norwich not having an option to buy Doyle at the end of the loan.
It is uncertain whether Doyle will be included in Pep Guardiola’s final squad for Manchester City’s tour of the USA. The club’s youngsters, including James McAtee, are also waiting for clarity on their immediate-term futures. Manchester City will play four games on their tour of the United States against Celtic, FC Barcelona, Chelsea, and AC Milan, providing an opportunity for the young players to impress the coaching staff.
