Manchester City is considering their options for the January transfer window to strengthen their squad in order to compete on multiple fronts this season. With uncertainties surrounding Pep Guardiola’s contract extension, it remains to be seen how the club will approach player signings and sales in January. Goalkeeper Stefan Ortega’s future at the club has come under speculation, with reports suggesting he may consider a summer exit if he continues to play second fiddle to Ederson Moraes.

Guardiola has praised Ortega’s abilities and emphasized the healthy competition between him and Ederson, with the hope that Ortega will push Ederson to perform at his best. Ortega will aim to challenge Ederson for the number one spot in the team until the end of the 2024/2025 season, but may have to seek opportunities elsewhere if he does not get regular playing time.
