Manchester City are financially capable of making a move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to journalist Dean Jones. Despite reports that Napoli has accepted a bid from Al Ahli, Osimhen is keen on staying in Europe. City, who are in need of a forward after the sale of Julian Alvarez, are looking for a player who would be willing to be a backup to Erling Haaland.

City are not expected to spend a significant amount on a new forward and have players like FC Copenhagen’s Orri Oskarsson and Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi on their shortlist. While a transfer to City is unlikely, Osimhen could potentially move to the Premier League before the transfer window closes, with Chelsea also in talks with the striker. However, there are issues that need to be resolved such as the type of deal preferred by Chelsea and Osimhen’s salary demands.

Ultimately, while City do have the financial resources to sign Osimhen, it is unlikely that they will pursue the striker in the current transfer window. With Osimhen looking to remain in Europe and Chelsea facing issues with the potential deal, it remains to be seen where the Nigerian international will end up before the transfer deadline.
