Manchester City is keeping a close eye on Morgan Gibbs-White’s situation at Nottingham Forest, with the Premier League champions considered as “huge admirers” of the player. While Forest is hoping to offer Gibbs-White a new contract, City’s interest, along with that of Tottenham and Newcastle, is making the situation more complicated.
There were previous reports suggesting that Forest would accept an offer of over £50m for Gibbs-White, but the club’s interest in extending his contract indicates a desire to protect his value. City, in search of an attacking midfielder, are exploring alternatives to Jamal Musiala, with Gibbs-White being considered due to his age and homegrown status, even though there may be other players providing better value for money in the transfer market.
Despite Gibbs-White’s decent performance at Forest, where he scored 12 goals and provided 18 assists in 84 appearances, some may argue that he is not on par with players like Musiala in terms of potential to replace key players in City’s squad like Kevin De Bruyne or Bernardo Silva. The player’s future remains uncertain as City, along with other clubs, continue to monitor his situation at Nottingham Forest.
