Manchester City, along with Manchester United and Barcelona, are reportedly interested in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The Uruguayan international only moved to PSG last summer for €60m, but the Ligue One champions are now willing to offload him. City are said to be one of the clubs making “concrete moves” for the 23-year-old as they potentially look to strengthen their midfield.
City’s interest in Ugarte may be driven by the potential departures of other midfielders such as Kalvin Phillips and Matheus Nunes. The club could also see exits from key players like Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, making the pursuit of new midfielders a priority. While Ugarte may not possess exceptional technical ability, his availability has sparked City’s interest, leading to a potential move for the player.
In addition to Ugarte, City have also been linked with other midfield targets such as Benfica’s Joao Neves and Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich. Neves may be a costly option with an asking price of €120m, while Kimmich could be a more realistic target with just a year left on his contract and a potential market value of €30m. City’s pursuit of midfield reinforcements suggests that they are actively looking to improve their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
