According to Bild, there is a 50% chance that Joshua Kimmich, a target for Manchester City, will leave Bayern Munich this summer as he is unlikely to sign a new contract. Bayern may not be willing to let him leave on a free transfer in 2025 and may want to raise money from his potential sale.
There are four Premier League clubs, including City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea, pursuing Kimmich. Chelsea is a new addition to the list of potential suitors, but it remains to be seen if they have a realistic chance of securing his signature. Kimmich reportedly prefers to join only five clubs, with City being his preferred destination.
Bayern Munich may be willing to offload Kimmich for around €30m, a relatively low fee for a player of his ability. Given City’s possible need for cover in central midfield, especially if other players are sold, a bid for Kimmich could become even more appealing. The situation will depend on Bayern’s willingness to let the midfielder run down his contract or if they will consider accepting offers for him.
