Atletico Madrid is open to offering Joao Felix to Manchester City in order to secure a deal for striker Julian Alvarez, as Felix is not in Atletico’s plans after returning from Barcelona. However, City is determined to keep Alvarez, despite his reported unhappiness at the club. Atletico believes Alvarez wants to be a more important player and sees them as his only option for a move to a Spanish club.
Despite Atletico’s interest in Alvarez, negotiations with City are expected to be challenging due to the difference in valuation. Atletico is only willing to spend £70m on Alvarez if they cannot include Felix in the deal, which is lower than City’s asking price. With no competition from other major clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, or PSG, Atletico may feel that they can hold firm on their offer.
Alvarez is said to be keen on a move to Atletico, as he was left out of important games at City despite starting many matches last season. Atletico’s persistence in pursuing Alvarez could be driven by his desire to join them and their belief that they can secure a deal without facing significant competition from other clubs.
