Manchester City midfielder James McAtee is seeking assurances from manager Pep Guardiola about his game time, despite scoring his first senior goal for the club during a recent Champions League match. McAtee has only had limited minutes this season, starting in the Community Shield and Carabao Cup, with just one cameo appearance in the Premier League against Ipswich Town.
City reportedly turned down offers worth up to £30m for McAtee in the summer, with interest from several clubs including Chelsea, Stuttgart, Feyenoord, Leicester, and others. While he is not pressuring for a permanent transfer away from City, McAtee may request a loan move if he cannot get guarantees from Guardiola about more playing time.
Although Guardiola may be hesitant to allow another midfielder to leave, especially with Rodri dealing with a serious injury, McAtee is eager to continue his development through regular minutes on the pitch. A loan switch in January could be a possibility for McAtee, who has previously spent time on loan with Sheffield United and is now attracting interest from clubs of a higher caliber.
