Manchester City have completed the signing of England Under 16 captain Harrison Miles from Southampton, after his contract with the club expired at the end of last season. City managed to beat out several other Premier League teams, including Arsenal, for the player’s signature. Despite interest from other clubs, Miles had made City his preferred destination, and after a lengthy ratification process, the deal was finally sealed.
Miles, a midfielder, has already shown promise at a young age, having made appearances for Southampton’s Under 21s and Under 18s last season. He has also been captaining the England Under 16 team since the beginning of the year, with performances in friendlies and finding the back of the net in a match against Sweden. While it is always uncertain how young players will fare in senior football, Miles is seen as having a lot of potential and is expected to feature for City in youth competitions this season.
With his signing, Miles will become part of Manchester City’s youth team setup, likely participating in the FA Youth Cup and potentially the UEFA Youth League. Fans can look forward to seeing this talented young player develop and possibly make the step up to senior football in the future.
