Manchester City are considering making a move for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma as a potential replacement for Ederson, who is reportedly set to join Al-Ittihad. Donnarumma has less than two years left on his contract at PSG and is said to be weighing up his options, with a transfer to City not ruled out. The Italian goalkeeper has been capped 66 times by Italy and his future at PSG is uncertain after the arrival of Matvey Safonov from Krasnodar.
Ederson, on the other hand, is said to have already agreed to a move to Al-Ittihad. With less than two years left on his current deal, the 30-year-old has accepted a lucrative offer from the Middle East club. Negotiations for the transfer fee between Al-Ittihad and City are now underway, with a price of over £40m expected to be demanded.
While there have been rumors of City pursuing a replacement for Ederson such as Mike Maignan from AC Milan, there is also a possibility that Stefan Ortega could be given a chance as the No. 1 goalkeeper. Ortega has signed a contract extension with the understanding that he would get more game time, making him a potential option as an understudy to Ederson. The direction City will take in terms of goalkeeper recruitment remains uncertain.
